CLEVELAND, Ohio (KGO) -- A big day is coming up for the Bay Area punk trio Green Day. The Berkeley group is among 15 nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It's the first year of eligibility for the band, led by energetic frontman Billy Joe Armstrong.

Five other acts are nominated for the first time, including Sting.

Results of the voting will be announced in December, with the induction planned for next April in Cleveland.
